Know what's in the drawer. Not just what you sold.

Every float, sale, refund, drop and tip lands on one append-only ledger — counted blind at close, so the number stands on its own. What rang up is a guess about the drawer. This is the drawer.

The 1am count

The drawer's short again. Nobody knows why.

Drift, skimming, an honest miscount — it all looks the same at close when there's no trail. So you eat the shortfall and hope it's the last time.

Silent drift

A few euros off every night adds up to real money by month-end — and no one can point to where it went.

No trail

When cash moves without a record, shrinkage and honest mistakes are indistinguishable.

Counts massaged to match

If staff can see the expected total, the count becomes a target instead of the truth.

Register session

One clean arc, open to close.

Every drawer runs the same disciplined loop, scoped to a Location and framed by the Business Day. Nothing starts without a float; nothing closes without a count.

  1. 01 Open

    Declare the float

A named Cash Register opens with a counted opening float. Until it's open, payments can be blocked — no open register, no cash.

  2. 02 Operate

    Log every movement

Sales, refunds, pay-ins, pay-outs, drops and tips all append to the ledger in cents, as they're rung. Pull an X Report mid-shift to check without resetting anything.

  3. 03 Count

    Count by denomination

A Cash Count captures the drawer note by note, coin by coin. With blind close on, the expected total stays hidden while you count.

  4. 04 Close

    Freeze the Z Report

Closing locks per-tender totals into an immutable Z Report, computes variance against expected, and prints the full reconciliation over ESC/POS.

Cash movements

An append-only ledger. Nothing editable, ever.

Every cash event is written once, in cents, and can't be altered after the fact. The drawer's history is a fact, not a draft.

Blind close

The count is the count.

Blind close hides the expected total and the variance while staff count — so the drawer gets counted honestly, not reverse-engineered to match. Reveal only after the count is locked.

Read the drawer mid-shift, freeze it at close.

Two reads, one source of truth — printed in full over ESC/POS with per-tender detail whenever you need paper in hand.

Accountability

Trust, built from mechanism.

No competitor at this tier tracks cash this deeply. Every control below is enforced by the ledger — not by policy you hope staff follow.

Append-only ledger

Once a movement is written it's fixed — corrections are new records, never edits, so the trail can't be rewritten.

Blind close

Expected totals and variance stay hidden during counting, so the count reflects the drawer, not the target.

Variance thresholds

Over-limit variances need manager sign-off before a session closes — and pay-outs are gated the moment they're attempted.

Shared or per-employee

Run one shared drawer or hold each employee to their own — configurable per location.

X / Z + ESC/POS

Mid-shift X reads, immutable Z closes, and full per-tender reconciliation printed at the counter.

Gated by role

ManageCashRegister and CashPayout restrictions decide who can open, pay out, or close a till.

No open register, no payments.

Quivi can block payments outright until a register session starts, so no cash moves before the drawer is open and floated — nothing lands off the books at open. Who can open, float, or pay out is gated by role through ManageCashRegister and CashPayout.

Reconciliation spine

Cash that reconciles with everything else.

Cash tenders don't sit in a silo — they settle against Payments alongside every other method, so per-tender totals line up end to end. The same movements feed Insights, giving you charge-method breakdowns that tie the drawer back to the day's sales.
